Boise State Football Camp

Tony and I spent four days at his beloved Boise State attending football camp.  We had no idea this was such a big deal.  There were over 1500 players and 40 teams.  It was intense!  There was a team there from Germany, players from England, Amsterdam, Alaska, Pennsylvania, New Mexico to name a few.  We stayed at the Red Lion, student housing was already full so he had no choice.  The hotel was awesome and our room had a balcony overlooking the pool.  Larry flew out Friday afternoon to watch his 7 on 7 scrimmage and the Bronco Brawl on the famous BLUE turf Saturday night.  This was a great experience for all of us and "T" came home decked out in Blue!

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Dec 2010

The long awaited trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Orlando was even more than we expected. The Dragon's Challenge is a twin roller coaster that comes within 18 inches of the "twin" coaster. Very scary in the front row. Hogwarts Castle is amazing too with a simulation of flying through the air with Harry chasing dragons and fighting with the Whomping Willow. The boys even humored me to go on the kiddie coaster which was the Flight of the Hippogriff. What can I say, I wanted to see Buckbeak. We had lunch at the Three Broomsticks which consisted of fish and chips and turkey legs. Our favorite beverage was butterbeer which also came frozen. It tastes like a cream soda. Our least favorite beverage was pumpkin juice. Ewwwww nasty! We purchased chocolate frogs at Honeydukes and shopped for other gifts at Zonko's Gift Shop. Tony couldn't decide which wand to purchase at Ollivander's Wand Shop (no wand chose him so he must be a muggle) he ended up with three; Harry Potter, Dumbledore and Lord Voldemort. He brought home Harry's wand to his buddy Ian. Alec chose Lucius Malfoy's wand which is cleverly disguised in a cane with a serpent head. My best surprise was using the ladies lavatory only to hear Moaning Myrtle giggling and laughing. What a magical place! A must see for every Harry Potter fan.

Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World for the second year in a row. He improved his time from last year and had a great time doing it. The weather was much better this year, no rain and no high humidity. Great job Al!

Mr Mac 8 All Conference

Tony was named to the Mac 8 All Conference Honorable Mention team while we were in Orlando supporting Alec at XC Nationals. Quite an honor for a sophomore to be recognized by coaches from around the league. Tony also received several academic honors. Love you Voot! Keep up the hard work.

Mom and Dad celebrate their 50th anniversary!

After raising four children, who at times have been (total knotheads) fifty years of marriage seems pretty easy. The four of us Dallin kids were able to "surprise" mom and dad with a celebration at Ruby River in Ogden on March 13, 2010. The plan was for Steve & Bridgit to bring mom and dad here for lunch and then to meet up with the others who were already waiting upstairs in the banquet room. The look on their faces as they came up the stairs, heard all of us shouting surprise was priceless. After a lot of tears, a few speeches, a fabulous picture presentation put together by Rob, we had a wonderful lunch. What a great way to celebrate two wonderful people. Love you Mom & Dad!

AmaSING!

Last Monday, June 29, we attended the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert at Red Rocks Ampitheatre. The place was breathtaking. It is a naturally formed theatre made from the Red Rocks found at the foothills. Larry, Alec and Tony were less than excited about going, but the concert turned out to be amazing. The choir didn't just sing "hymns", but many selections from around the world. They finished the evening by singing some patriotic numbers and I even heard Tony singing on the way out. Nice! The highlight of the evening was when Lloyd D. Newell of "Music and the Spoken Word", introduced President Monson. WOW! If you make the first picture bigger, you can see him down in front turned around to address the crowd. What a great night!

I just found out from Dave's email, that my nephew Nathan, serving in the Oklahoma City mission, was an usher for this great event the week before. Denver was the last stop on the tour before they returned home. I can't wait to see how Nate liked the performance.

"Piotrek Koroluk" our Polska exchange student

Welcome Piotrek! Our Polska exchange student arrived Thursday, May 28th at 11:45 pm. The plane was only delayed about a half hour. We are so excited to have him with us for three weeks and hope we give him the right impression of Americanskis. We are so excited for this experience with him!

The "Three Days of Memorial Day Weekend"

How much can you possibly cram into three days? We thought we would test the limits....What a crazy weekend! To sum it all up, we had six baseball games between Loveland and Ft. Collins, four graduation parties, one graduation ceremony, one Bolder Boulder race and one very sick husband. Poor Lar must have gotten a bit of food poisoning because he was very sick. He still managed to be the best tag team partner ever, getting Tony to the games I couldn't. Love you Lar!

Tony's team took third place in the tournament and only lost to the first place team by two runs in an earlier game. Alec finished the 10K in 51 minutes. I finished in 58 minutes and my goal was under 60 so I was pumped! What a great weekend, now it's time to go back to work to get some rest.......

Mall of America

This is the amusement park in the heart of the Mall of America. This is also where Alec & Tony spent the majority of their time. What an amazing place! 520 stores, every type of restaurant you could want, miniature golf and even an aquarium. We were exhausted by the time we left, but had a wonderful time!

Alec's new ride....

While the boys and I were in Minneapolis for Spring Break, Lar arranged a deal with a friend of Todd's and the purchase of this sweet new ride. This beautiful 2000 green Dodge Durango only had 50,000 miles and has been parked/babied in a garage it's whole life. Alec passed his driving test when we got back and is now officially loose on the streets of Brighton. Look out!

Snowboarding at Winter Park

Alec and I went skiing/snowboarding on Friday, Feb 13th. What an awesome time! I was the chaperone for the trip with 29 students. We boarded the charter bus at 6:00 am, picked up another chaperone and 10 other students at PVHS and off we went. Alec had a lesson for the first half of the day while I skiied. We met up for a wonderful lunch in the lodge and then the real test....I took him up the lift and he boarded down like a pro. If a pro boards on their butt that is.

He was great, I pushed him pretty hard but he was a trooper and did really well. It was a beautiful day, blue sky and sunny. We got back on the bus at 3:15, all kids were accounted for popped in a DVD for the kids to watch and headed back home. We had a great day and would definitely do this again!

Best gift of Christmas 2008? Guitar Hero World Tour. Who knew the family would have this much fun playing Xbox 360 together? This is even better than Madden 09.

Dallin Fam Christmas Party Dec.13, 2008

The boys and I traveled to Utah for the annual Family Christmas Party. We flew in to SLC late Thursday night and arrived in Coalville around 12:30 AM. Grandma & Grandpa stayed up to greet us and Grandma Cathie even made Tony eggs before finally going to bed at 1:30 AM. Alec went straight to bed. We spent Friday in Park City at the outlets finishing up our shopping. When we woke up Saturday morning, a big storm had blown in and Rob and family were snowed in at Preston with 12 inches. Dave and family made it as far as Provo, but the canyon was so bad they had to turn around and head back home. It was a bummer we didn't get to see everyone. We had an awesome time with Gma & Gpa T and Steve & Bridgit's family. Rock Band was the big hit! Chase is quite a singer with Al on lead guitar, Tony on drums and Breeley as the back up singer. I expect their new video to release any day now on MTV. Keep watching.....

Thanksgiving 2008

We were very blessed to have Grandma & Grandpa "T" come to our house for Thanksgiving this year. We had a wonderful week eating, shopping, eating, going to see Bolt, shopping, eating, playing Uno and Grandpa helped Larry do some painting in the shop.

Elder Nathan Dallin

Okay everyone, my nephew, Elder Nathan Dallin serving in the Oklahoma City mission has visited my blog and tells me his favorite part was the music. So to make sure he heeds the mission rules, I have added a Mo Tab song just for him. Love you Nate! I certainly don't want to be accused of leading him astray. I think the "Saints of Los Angeles" song has something to do with the saints in zion, right? And, Livin on a Prayer, of course. Who was it that took Nate and Brad to a Broncos game on Sunday? It must have been Alec and Tony. Keep up the good work Nate and I'll update the music as it comes out!

Happy sweet 16 Alec! Al spent his birthday at the end of the year golf tournament at Coyote Creek Golf Course. It wasn't his best day of golf, but at least he got to be out of school for his birthday!

Me & Jessica Simpson

Yep, that's me and Jessica Simpson. She came to Brighton High School as part of a contest the students won. Our students sent over 340,000 texts to KYGO radio in a 2 week period. We beat out every other high school in the Denver Metro area. Now that's a claim to fame. Just imagine if they had spent that much time on homework (Alec). We would have a lot more scholarships awarded. Jessica came to BHS on Halloween and although she didn't perform, she answered some questions that the students had. My only question was, "where is Tony Romo?"
